Friday, April 4 & Saturday, April 5 / Trip Out
by Brad Nelson
The Willie Waldman Project made its debut last August at the Green Man Festival and drew a collective, “Whoa…this is freakin my shit out, dude.” And those were the sober fans. Waldman and friends are the best in the jam-scene biz, creating a surreal atmosphere through music while performance-painter Norton Wisdom, who got started in the 60s painting with acts like The Doors, translates the audible into the visual. Watch Wisdom work too long and you may have flashbacks – he’s that good. Waldman returns with backing from The Big Wu and Moe. members, as well as bass prodigy Rob Wasserman, who has played with the likes of Lou Reed, Van Morrison, Elvis Costello and is a current member of Ratdog (Bob Weir’s band.)
