Allowed to choose her own name as a child, she picked Helicopter. As a toddler in the 70\u2019s she and her mother lived briefly in a California commune\/cult. A tween actress, she was in the \u201980s series&nbsp;<em>Mrs. Columbo<\/em>. Now a Grammy winning songwriter\/violinist, she\u2019s performed with Roger Waters at Coachella, the LA Philharmonic, and Jimmy Page &amp; Robert Plant; she also contributed to Hans Zimmer\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Pirates of the Caribbean: At World\u2019s<\/em>&nbsp;<em>End<\/em>&nbsp;film score, during which we could easily imagine her effortlessly bonding with Keith Richards.https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aJgHYy_ZcEE?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;fs=1&amp;hl=en-US&amp;autohide=2&amp;wmode=transparent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So imagine our enthusiasm at the arrival of her new single&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/smarturl.it\/LH-sayonara\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u2018Sayonara\u2019<\/a>&nbsp;(from her upcoming album&nbsp;<em>More Love<\/em>, due out this spring), especially as it is a sonorous kiss-off to the soon-to-be-over nightmare we\u2019ve been living with for the last four years. And while the ominous but optimistic track showcases Lili\u2019s plaintive vocals and exhilarating violin playing over a sultry trip-hop beat, we were especially taken with the accompanying video. In it, artist&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nortonwisdom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Norton Wisdom<\/a>&nbsp;is seen painting a portrait inspired \u2013 of course \u2013 by the song, but in time lapse (because, obviously, no one can actually paint that fast).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEven though we use different mediums,\u201d elaborates Wisdom, a longtime friend of Haydn, \u201cour collective output is seamlessly&nbsp;joined by a passion of purpose. When we collaborate, the walls that&nbsp;separate our independent disciplines fade away to leave us&nbsp;cooperatively focused on what we feel is important: human beings&nbsp;working together to expose injustice and inequality, while creating something that merges beauty with the social&nbsp;conscience, in order to leave a record of who we are as a society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blackbookmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/01\/Lili-Haydn-video-image.jpg?w=1200&amp;resize=1200%2C887\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-251280\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>No stranger to working within the context of socially and politically charged themes, Haydn has also composed music for the provocative Amazon series&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Transparent-Season-1\/dp\/B00I3MOT0Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Transparent<\/a><\/em>, as well as documentaries about Anita Hill and RBG (the latter, titled&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/race\/new-ruth-bader-ginsburg-documentary-from-hollywood-heavyweights-screening-for-buyers-exclusive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ruth<\/a><\/em>, is already stirring up buzz). And \u2018Sayonara\u2019 very much draws from our current political quagmire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wanted this song to come out before the inauguration for obvious&nbsp;reasons,\u201d Haydn states, \u201cbut Trump is a symptom of a larger phenomenon of fear and&nbsp;domination, which didn\u2019t begin with him, and won\u2019t end with him.
